Afraid I haven't been able to do much to the bike yet but I thought I would show some pictures of the day it arrived. The frame is polishing up quite nicely.

Ok, somebody used a Drilling machine, how many gramms are saved?
A Racebike with those tyres?
A long time since that bike saw a track, needs something to keep the rims off the ground wheeling it around.
Yeah, a strange place to go for weight reduction.
I reckon the rear calliper mounting system is pretty creative.

From what I can gather the frame is a Verlicchi CrMo one made for owners to convert their road bikes hence mounts for stands. Cut them off if you want. I suppose Eades didnt think it necessary. It has a number, "RGS/1" and the DGM number. The swing-arm is marked "Race use Only". The frame is unpainted. I don't know how many of these were made. Maybe just this one. The others I have seen were for non rubber mounted engines. The engine has 36mm carburetors and a three into one exhaust. Forks are Paioli 38mm and the wheels are Campagnolo. Yes the tyres are not race tyres but are decent rim protectors. The fairing and side-panels are glass fibre and very light. I thought the rear caliper mount was the same as an SFC1000 but I might be wrong.
I still haven't decided what to do with it as I rally just wanted to get back on a Laverda again. The lock down has slowed my momentum as well.. I'll post again in the future expecting the same quality reply's ?

You will have trouble stopping them posting, this has raised huge interest especially being around Sydney. Lots would love to own it. I am amassed there wasn't a bidding war.

Someone got on this forum and said the frame wasn't Crmo which I think knocked out the punters. I put in an offer thinking he was right though I remember the bike from the eighties having some pretty extensive mods including the frame. I put in a low offer not expecting to get it and it was accepted. I do wish it still had the seat which had gone missing. I have the receipt from Max Eade to the previous owner for $14500.00. I got the impression they were friends.

My brother owened a 1000 SFC and when he bought it he was told it has a Cro Mo frame. We never checked it but there were some made on request, Piet might know exactly.

Definately not production run SFC1000 rear calliper mounting. It has similarities but the calliper was to the right of the mounting bracket and underslung the disc.

Very interesting bike you have there.Looking at the fork?s I think they might be Marzocchi, same fork as found on the factory tt2 Ducati of the day, only your?s are 38mm and the Ducati had 35mm.Quite a rare fork particularly in the larger 38mm size.Do keep us updated, love a good modified Laverda story.

What is the Weight of Bike?
Btw the Foodrestplate is not SFC....

The swing-arm is marked "Race use Only".
Looks similar to but different from the SFC1000 item. It appears as though the bracing in front of the wheel is curved, not straight? Article written back in the day said the factory race shop were experimenting with alloy swingarms for their TT1

The floating rear caliper arrangement surely not factory supplied!! Looks horrible. Kits were available from Centro Sport but again, not like that.

My brother owened a 1000 SFC and when he bought it he was told it has a Cro Mo frame. We never checked it but there were some made on request,
Not heard that before or encountered it in the UK. Surely unlikely given that the factory was on its knees when the SFC1000 was produced? A limited number of Cro-Mo frames were produced for the TT1 replica production race bikes sold to a few dealers. Apparently some were left on the shelf and one or more sent out mistakenly as stock frame spares in the dying days.  :'(

36mm carbs on sand cast race shop manifolds tie in with the factory TT1 bike and replicas.  Be interesting to know if it has other TT1 mods like CR gearbox; lightened crank
