Great ride out today in the early Autumn sunshine to meet Tyrone on his twin at Midwest Moto Stourport. On way home stopped for possibly my last visit to the old Slater premises to take photos before it disappears for new homes. A great shame if the orchard is grubbed out.

Yes a shame indeed, I recently had a message from the VJMC that their annual autojumble at Popham airfield is no more, the surrounding area being sold for housing. I hope the Aeroclub realise that the new residents won't want them making a din with their planes either. It can't be helped though, one million new residents in the UK last year, have to put people somewhere.

Nice quality photos, one photo caught my eye, the roofing sheets look like what we call "Super 6" asbestos sheeting, yikes that stuff is the only one that has me on high alert. You could see the filaments sticking out of the sheets in the sunlight, in Australia. Hope that workshop was lined inside in the day.... hope safe demolition is planned or the usual "cut price" dice throwers not included. j

Was it lined? You have to be kidding, no such things as elf and safety back then. The vendor did promise to clear the site when sold, but who knows whether it will be just bulldozed and carted off in open lorries to the local landfill.

It's not the same as the Australian product (6 corrugation ridges, 5 for hardiesheet) but if it is 1970/80's fibre reinforced cement panels it is very likely asbestos. Full respiratory PPE and hazardous materials disposal for that lot.

Those outbuildings were latterly used for storage, Richard showed me the leftover bikes in there he had for sale when he was winding down. One of them was the 750 GTL they used as a courtesy bike. There were a few old nails in there, wonder where they ended up?
