Hello all, has anyone used the extended clutch arm by Malc. I am sure its me not the product, Malc sells a lot of these. When I fit it, the clutch pushrod protrudes too far out of the shaft for the cover to fit with the arm in place. I've lost my instructions, I am sure there was one with it, I don't remember it mentioning shortening the arm. The only thing I can think of is that I have dropped an extra ball bearing down the hole after working on the engine on different days. So now I have trashed the clutch cover gasket after my excellent rebuild, but I still cant get the secondary push rod or ball bearing out. I hoped I could use an air line and blow the little bastard out but that doesen't work, I have very strong rare earth magnet from one of my mag drive pumps, I magnetised a length of rod - that doesn't work

I really dont want to strip the clutch and everything out again, hir ethe special tool etc - any suggestions - preferably avoiding the obvious insults and why would you do that, I've had a lot on my mind recently

I can't see any way around this one other than strip it and start again

I have a magnet on a spring shaft that is about 5mm diameter that goes straight up the centre of the shaft and will pull that ball bearing out.
Most good tool shops sell them!!!!

I was one step away from buying the locking tool, thanks for this one - Ive found a magnetic tool as you suggested, 4mm diameter so it will go up the hole. It arrives Friday and I will sing your praises if it works - cheers Maurice, ill get the new gasket ordered now !!

Option 2
Rig a bit of 6mm diameter tube up to a vacuum cleaner (or a Pela pump - anything to create low pressure in the pipe). Prep the end of the pipe neatly, so as to seal well onto the ball. Stick it in and suck it out!
