Hi Folks
attached, hopefully, is a picture of my trees, as you can see the stanchions are some 3cm proud.
Its a 1980 Jota with Tommaselli bars and headlight bracket. I bought her in 88, and it has remained unmodified ever since.
I'm about to do a front end re-furb and was wondering if I should drop them back down when I'm done ?
Will I notice any handling changes, she currently handles very well.
Also why would they have been put like that, any idea's

Probably dropped to speed up the steering a bit(unless the fork legs are longer than stock), reduces head angle and trail.  Will sacrifice a bit of cornering clearance though, as well as being a pita to heave onto the centre stand.

If you're not going racing, put them back where they belong, will be quite OK for most of the time on the road.

You could be the first person here to take a look at the Chinese Tec "Jota" bars (from a different thread). http://tecbikeparts.com/Contact_Us.html will give you UK, US, and Australian web sites. I'll be really interested to hear if their stuff is any good.
