Fork lower wear

Too much wear on my Guzzi T 3 fork lowers...same lack of bushes as the other Italian bikes of the era so the only way to improve and save them is to machine inserts. Anyone done this ?
 
I looked into fitting upper and lower bushes, it's been done. Apparently, someone in Europe did a few Bevel Race Bikes but has no interest in doing more. Also, a local Bevel Race bike builder up near Newcastle did it as well but it's incredibly difficult and buying suitable tooling is expensive. It's a pretty deep hole to grind into. The easiest fix to reduce friction is Hard Anadising but that won't reclaim material if there flogged out.
 
Thanks Vince...much what I've been thinking as I cannot find any specific info on the web.The worst wear is at the lowest end .
The nearest who might be able to do it with ease are a company in northern France (I live in France ) who specialise in reconditioning hydraulic rams.I have a spare set which need refinishing so once they are done and fitted will dig deeper.These parts are becoming hard and expensive to find now.
 
I did have another touch but cannot find them now ! I think I bookmarked them but it's lost or buried...have you any need for this kind of work too?

No, I was curious to see if it was local to me.
Not many British around here.
The dominant wind coming from across the Channel doesn't smell exotic enough.

A small cylinder hone - probably on an extension - can be used to get the lower round and parallel again. Oversize bushes are then quite simple to make up. I've only had to do it once years back on a fork restoration i did for a customer. I farmed the honing job out to an engine reconditioner.
Didn't cost a lot from memory.
 
This bloke in Australia has a honing machine that should do the job. It'll hone hydraulic cylinders up to 4.1m in length!

Impressive Dellortoman ! I'm sure that someone can do the job ...it's just a matter of finding who and that's why I started here as you lot are much better informed and equipped than most other motorcycle groups I know of.
