Fork off

Main obvious difference is the caliper fixings.

The Ceriani have a hole through which the fixing bolt passes into the threaded caliper, Marzocchi is the other way round.

Ceriani have a stepped top yoke (except late 1200s) and the stanchions are not parallel to the steering stem, except 750SFC items.  Marzocchi, flat top yoke and parallel.  Besides, these have the Marzocchi logo cast into the yokes as well.  Subtle differences in the slider castings too.

Ceriani are of better build quality and are a bit lighter due to thinner walled stanchions, but also a bit weaker/flimsy because of this.

My new Ceriani yokes arrived yesterday, must say that the polished originals are way better finished. The top yoke has had a half hearted attempt at being polished while the bottom looks to have been blasted leaving a satin ally finish.
Any one know if there has been a reproduction run of these items?? Not sure if I want to fit them in their current state, could paint them but I really liked the look of the polished yoke.
Might have to talk to my machinist mate to see about having a set of billeted ones made that are parallel.
I can vision silver painted yokes in the future using the new items!!

Rob,

Most of the originals we polished later. Couldn't you just send yours off to be polished, or did I miss something.

Pete

Pat, not sure how to read your post, is there a set of yokes on ebay? or is there going to be a set of yokes on ebay? :D Could be the later!!

Pete, my originals are beautifully polished and look luvly all shinny, I could send the new ones off for polishing but that would involve spending more money on already expensive items plus $100 for post from Canada, then I'd have to pay return post again to Perth plus the polishing cost, probably not cheap, or just paint them myself with paint already on the shelf which will only cost me my time.
Probably could have have the originals welded in the areas of the cracks/fractures and reused them or put the substantial costs of the new ones towards billeted items.
Another 2 steps forward and 1 step back!!
Rob

Rob,

Ugh!  See your problem - no cheap options there  :(

I see where you are coming from. Living here, close to platers/polishers, I would get them polished. Living where you are, I think I would paint.

Pete

Hi Rob, they're advertised but not sure how to post link off my iPhone.
Not sure if suitable for your Motodd, no good for SFC.
Type in "Laverda triple tree" to Aussie eBay.
Cheers, Pat

Polish them yourself you lazy sod  :D

Cam, one thing I hate the most about polished ally is having to polish it!! It's one thing to give them abit of a rub with autosol and another to polish up rough castings. And besides, I want to finish the Motodd this year!!
I'm about to take several steps back removing the head for the 3rd time to sort out the cam binding problems.
Nothing ever goes smoothly, spend a fortune buying something them spend more money or time having it modded to fit/work. I am seriously getting over it as everything else has been put on hold so as to finish the Motodd.
Got a 20T excavator arriving this arvo to do more clearing and level my house site so next week I should be onto house building. So fuck it, it gets painted, when the rain fucking stops!!

Pete, yep living in bum fuck nowhere can be a PITA, If I can do it myself then I do it, but that adds up to thousands of hours when you start looking at the details.

Pat, will check them out then, but probably too late now that I've spent $500 on a new set.
Just checked them out, look good all nicely polished for a fraction of what I just paid for a new set!!! Damn

It would appear then that I have cherry forks with marzipan yokes. Did this happen from the factory?
Hi Mark -I often use a set of "Cerrochis" or "Marziani's" - I prefer the ceriani sliders - used with marzo stanchions and use Ceri or Marzo yokes - the Saxon/motodds are not fussy about different yokes. - Regards - Phil
