Fork Oil

Hello learned peeps,

I will be putting oil in the American Eagle's forks very soon. There appears to be differing advice in the Factory Handbook and the "Green Book". The handbook says 185 cc of 'Shell Tellus 33' whilst the green book suggests 170 ml SAE 10.

What would you guys recommend?

BTW: the forks are the standard 35 mm Ceriani, I will generally be riding solo but occasionally 2 up with luggage. I only weigh in at 70 kg in dripping wet riding gear...

Many thanks in advance.
James

I'm using BelRay 15 weight and Stock Springs. She's a little stiff in town but great at HWY Speed in corners or when you hit Pot Holes and Pavement Cracks. I'm thinking I'll try 10 weight this season.

always tricky being just a little stiff in town, better to go all the way. :D

I used to use Shell Tellus oils in Construction plant, its a Hydraulic oil range IIRC.

Perhaps motorcycle fork specific oils, were in their infancy in those days..
Anyway good luck, you might have to buy 25 litres :)

regards
Rob
