Fork yoke nut

Hi

Can anyone tell me what the measurement (length) of the fork yoke nut from under the head should be for a SF2, I ordered one and it appears to be too long, it measures 30mm yet the top yoke which it fit into only measures 25mm deep.

I could put it in the lathe and take a few millimetres off of it but I am reluctant to do this as internally the nut is only threaded part of the way down.

Other option is to make up a spacer to take up the slack but the parts diagram doesn't show one.

Have I been sent the wrong part or am I doing something wrong.

From memory the top nut doesn't bottom down onto the top triple clamp. It bottoms onto the adjusting nut and acts as a locknut. The top triple is secured onto the top nut you have by the pinch bolt. Could be wrong, but that's how I remember it. Ditto for the SF1.

Correct!

I've found all sorts of stupid shit in there to take up the space... only to find the steering head incorrectly adjusted as well.

Don't have to be Arturo C. to understand the workings. :D
