Hello all, does anyone know what the fairing fitted to the Formula 500 bikes is off and where they can be located, prefer UK but Europe is a possibility

I am building my stash of anything 500 related as an archive and recently got a copy of Classic Bike from March 1998, a great article and test ride with Mike Waugh. The text refers to the fairings as works Kawasaki type but I cant find them

Any info welcome Cheers Dave Fitz'

Hi Fitz,
I don't know if this is any help but I found this on a French website. My French is not very good but the owner is clearly restoring a Formula bike to use on the track. A couple of nice racing pictures and one of what appears to be a brand new ( and correct ) fairing.

Perhaps you could try contacting him ( or her ).

The fairing was specially designed for the Formula.
The ones used on the first series were slightly different from the later ones used.
Gijs van Dijk had a replica made for me many years ago. Maybe the mould still exists.

Track pics are Mike Waugh.
Pics on this french forum are quite old I think, however, Bertrand who participates in this forum certainly knows the owner.

Yes I found a seat in Germany a while ago and bought that one. Then I met Austen Kear and the bugger had a new one available which is now on the web

I cant believe that there are so many contradictory stories about these bikes, it is great fun deciding which information is likely to be correct and which is thought to be true

The article that I mentioned in Classic Bike magazine specifically states that the fairings where factory Kawasaki types but as usual people now tell me that is not right

I think I will stick to the short nose fairing I bought and concentrate on building the bike for now
