Hello again guys :D

Feel like im never off this technical page :( The Formula has decided to start playing up >:( Had to change the plugs after it started to bog down and back fire and pop at whoever was interested (and im not) but it is still farting back into the airbox and it makes it move a bit. Its only on the one side its happening and its affecting the idle speed causing it to stall unless I catch it on the throttle. Other than that it seems to be ok. Its very irregular when it happens.

Now my patience is being tested to the max with these Zanes and next year could see me evict them from my life. Anyway any advice would be greatly appreciated. It has 2months tax to run and if it sounds like a challenge the tax disc is getting sent 1st class to give me some money back. Unfortunately I have to many things going on to focus on the bike for any length of time, thats part of the reason I try cheating by asking you lot so often in the hope it gets me in the right place a bit quicker.

Cheers again

Cam

Cam, we really shouldn't pick on the Zanes too much... ::)

But I'd try a battery check/ bad earth scenario.. before selling the damn thing and getting a real Laverda..

Hi Cam my strike is the same at moment , my battery is knackered if I run with the lights on 30 miles and it coughing and farting and wont start until recharged . I leave it on the optimate and can use it during the day but if its not returned to life support the following day its just like yours.

Have you tried re-setting the potentiometer?

Well I threw caurtion to the wind (more like decided to suffer or blow up) and took the bike out for a blast. Wasnt a slow run either. Thankfully plod were busy watching the mad golfing crowd in Gleneagles to worry about the noisy Jaffa Cake rumbling along the road. How funny would it have been if it was popping and banging?? :P Still we managed 100 odd km without any problems!!!!! Imagine that you Zane knockers?!! :D

Anyway, when its cold it blows back through the inlet and into the airbox but when its warm its fine. Runs like it should dosent miss a beat. I was thinking along the lines of the valve not seating properly and my dad suggested an air leak on the way in causing a weak mixture. So given I managed this run I will stick it out till October before taking it of the road for winter.

Howdy Cam,
Sorry if this is a bit brief, the poxy server at the equally poxy Holiday Inn shut me down:
I initially though it sounded like a dribbly injector, regardless i'd drop a shot of injector cleaner in the tank and see if this cleans things up, secondly i'd suggest you track down a local bike shop that has the diagnostic equipment to plug into a Webber Marelli 16M ECU (Moto Guzzi or Poxy Duke kids), this will give you TPS set up info along with all engine management systems and electrical details (coils  or dodgy plug leed connection etc), i'd also suggest you get a sniffer on the pipe and see where your potentiometer has been set - people do like to play with mixture.

Hey Ian: Not sure if you can plug Mr Muir into the Monty to check on Dellorto set up: But hey, at least you're keeping it real with Grampa's technology -  :D :D :D
ps: Nice shots of you on the beast and great to see you out an about giving it all woo hoo:)

Hey Cam, why not throw up some shots of the beastie, be cool to see :)

Cheers

I'm the Manuel of fuel injected 'stuff' , i know nothing Mr Fawlty !
But if it had a luvly pair of DellO's , i would check the balance tube between the inlet manifolds ?? (maybe blocked?)
Otherwise, i'll give ya 2 bucks for her.  A bloke could do with a track bike, to chase young Peter!  :D

Heya Pete, done the Dell tune thing. On MM's advice a nice new pair of 60/3 slides and with my nifty vac gauge set-up and a balance tube the poor little thing almost (almost) actually idles..particularly when fresh in from the session. Reckon it just doesn't want to stop having so much fun.. :P
