once they are cracked/fractured they have to be fixed, but much better to do it before that happens, although it must be said that the few that I have done, more 180's than 120's, is that I find the ignition on the 180's clashes with the re-inforcment and that just HAS to come second, fix the frame first (preferably before fracture) and sort the ignition second, the last one I did was getting absolutely everything replaced as 100% stock, it was a jota, and so temporary bracing was fixed and the tubes were cut right through with a 1mm disc and welded back with full penetration, ( 2 runs, root and filler done with gas) but no added gusseting, I told the owner that he cannot grind off the re-inforcement, but concours builders..............?????
