frame numbers

I thought I would start a thread on Laverda frame numbering after the recent discussion on a 1980 Jota that is currently for sale in Australia.
Once again it appears that our beautiful moto Laverda's are possibly individual in the fact that frame numbering can vary from bike to bike.
I have attached some shots of frame numbers on three of my triples the first my 1974 non oil cooled disc brake 3C have a look at the homolgation number these first front disc brake bikes have an homologation number from the drum brake bikes in fact Fernando Cappalotto told me that these frames were left over from the mechanical drum brake bikes that were prestamped.
The second shot is my aussie drummer see the same homologation number,
And the third is my 1979 Jota with an angled 3CL stamp between the 1000 and bike number. some of these bikes had no 3cl and some had the stamping in line with the numbers.
You will notice that the stamps are generally uneven and obviously hand stamped and all of these bikes are original.

you are not aiming bullets at me are you Maurice?
I have a tendency to not want to comment here, because if I tell what I have learned the hard way, it will help people register stolen bikes as genuine!
I don't see any problems on your bikes

I have a drummer with the same number.
I just need to whip the front end with discs off it and I've made me a couple of thousand.

Cool.

The frame number on a Spanish bike I have here is completely made up (1200 12985) but it has Spanish papers so who cares?
It has had a new frame by the look of it but I don't know where they got the number from. The documents describe it as a 3CL.

5415

none of those digits were stamped by Moto Laverda or Verlichi (frame manufacturer)

replacement frames came with all numbers in place except the one between the stars (stars what stars??)
Italian stamped though I would think.
