Th two bits of bracing on the rear of the frame, one above the shock mount and other the triangle piece at the bottom of the frame. Do they contribute anything but weight or can i just chop them out.

The bottom one does have some sort of usefulness as a brace - the top one stops the seat/mudguard support area drooping if bike is overloaded and suspension tops out with a jarring effect!  - Best to drill holes in them - looks much more technical and the extra airflow through them will help keep rear tyre cooler :D :D - Regards - Phil

As you can see from the photo there is not a lot of rear part of the frame left and wish to remove the bracing for aesthetic reasons only as i want to shorten the rear frame tubes by about another 2 inches.
