Front brake pump

OCT recommended this 14mm MC:

It works great. Had a blunt feeling with the 15.8 mm Brembo before - which was gone after the change.
However, I think it's from Nissin - but looks period correct IMHO ...

thanks for the tip! I would preffer an original PS15 pump to restore, but if not this looks a good option.
However I didn't understand... are you offering me this one to buy you? or should a look one like this one? in that last case where can I find it?

I could offer you my old original Brembo - but it would require some maintenance before reuse for sure.
So the one above was just meant as a hint for improved functionality ...

Impressive work Miguel! So far, nearly everything on my 3c has been allowed to keep its patina.
:)

But I would be interested in this coating process for my instrument bracket. Mine has a shiny (chromed?) finish and, depending on the angle of the sun, is very dazzling.

Now we've to start negotiating wrt the Brembo MC - I've no idea what to ask for such a used part ...

There are few tricks for cerakoting, dont really need an starting kit, actually I would avoid it, i bought it and it was useless, the spraying gun was a no go.
Once you can do it, is the best coating ever. Is extremely thin, 1 mil. You don’t need to mask anything, and is very corrosive resistance, as much as you can paint the inner part of the brake calipers or pumps.
I use it also for the head light, aluminium parts and almost every little part that will fit in my oven.
Prices from applicators are extremely expensive, which is understandable, due to the high price of a pint of cerakote, and the work implied.

Gun, important thing is that the nozzle is 0’8, you will need some practice before getting the good result, as you can only spray like two layers or sometimes even one in average, important thing is to check when the coat is cured with a mil gauge should be between 0’8 and 1’8, you will correct your technic everytime until you can spot it on.

the preparation of the part is very important, has to be sand blasted with aluminium grid nr1 or similar to create a rough surface where cerakote will adhere if it too rough the thin layer of cerakote will not cover it completely. They have to be TOTALLY grease free, acetone bath is also necessary.

i use this brush from loew cornell to paint letters.

That thickness meter looks hi tech and expensive. And what exactly is Cerakote? And that nozzle attachment is the spray head? I like it, whatever it is. Maybe I should employ you to do my ND switchgear!

I have an old mechanical type coating thickness tester that I bought back in the 80's. I forget how much it cost, somewhere in the $200-300 ballpark I think, which quite expensive back in the day. It's a spring-loaded scale that measures the force required to pull a magnet away from the surface. Thicker coating means less pull on the magnet. Obviously only works with steel substrate. It may have lost some of its magnetism by now so it's probably way out of calibration.

I think the modern digital ones work by ultrasonics (or possibly magic) and will work on any kind of substrate material. Prices range from about $100 up to several thousands.

Thnak you! I was just motivated, most of the things i learned came from here.

The mil gauge is very cheap, I payed like 50/70€, there were others for less than 30€, but I told myself that was too cheap for such a cool thing🤣

Cerakote is a kind of ceramic coating, is not standard paint.

the noozle you see is a kind of brush to paint the little letters, you refill the deposit and you paint like a pen. The spray nozzle for cerakote I use an standard Sagola 475 with 0’8.
 
Recently had a metal Brembo master cylinder and 2 PO8s Cerakoted.
Brilliant. You can throw brake fluid at it.
Works great on exhausts apparently.

Maybe that's what the ceramic coating I had done on my exhaust is?

Miguel's look really good and sounds like an excellent coating c/w paint or powder coat, due to the thinness.
