Front wheel speedometer gear.

Dave, there is was a genuine Laverda tool that did the job, good luck getting one now. They're just an interference fit onto the boss on the hub, the quality of the fit seems to vary quite a lot. I got mine off with a couple of little pry bars and a hot air gun. They're pretty hard so you apply reasonable force without damaging them, but applying force to as large an area as possible is still a good idea.
If the pry bars don't work, a Harbor (sic) Freight Tools bearing puller might be worth the $15.

G'day Dave,
Got mine off very easily; I removed the disc, placed two bits of wood on either side and levered the ring off with a couple of M/C tyre levers, didn't expect it to come so easily. The teeth were showing a bit wear so I took it off and put back on the other way round. Another 100,000 Kms before I need to replace it.

Good idea Terry. Your speedo will go backwards now. When the odometer gets to zero, it'll be a new bike!  ;)

Ha ha, I learnt from the Boss the other day that it is one of the few things you can fuck up on a Laverda, direction not placement :D

Sorry Cosi, lost me there; rotated the drive two years ago, no problems since (as long as its well greased now and again. (Easy to be lost at the moment 42 C in Adelaide).

you cant put the gear when fitting, (direction) on the wrong way

you can however fuck the gear up (placement/installation) by the mood with wich you tap/belt it on

re reading my post it was missing a T, "cant fuck up", bloody christmas cheer

42c, fark me, drink some beer in aircon
