Anyone have any experience of using Fuel Stabilisers to prevent varnish/deposit build up in carbs?

Yep , havent used it fa 12mnths but had done for previous 5 yrs with no dramas.

Didnt know it helped with keeping carbs clean ?? Always used it as an octane retainer when bike sits
for a few weeks.

My neighbour was a auto rep and passed a bottle or two over the fence every now n then  ;)
She said it was popular amongst motor boat users that dont get out often.

Andy ride your bikes regular like and you dont  need any fuel stablizer...

My mate in California swears by the Stihl stabilizer however last visit I got him to throw out the full tank in his Hailwood after it refused to start and we put fresh fuel in and bob was your mothers sisters husband... though I do note that we only drained the bowls didnt clean so maybe there is something to be said of it...
Though if you drain the bowls if leaving sitting for a long time then would you really need to use stabilzer...

Best solution is to introduce a rotation system.............................................................

In the land of 6 months winter and 6 months of something else, I use stabilzer in my motor toys for off season storage. Pretty well required to keep the gas usable. For my boat (carb engine on checy 350 V8) my newer snowmobiles with FI, and my newer motorcycle with FI I simply use stabalizer. For the Laverda and older snowmobiles with carbs I drain the carbs. I have found even with stabalizer (yes I run the engines to get the stabalizer to the carbs) there can be some tarnish etc for long periods of storage. During the riding season I may not use the Laverda for a month or two (ie I may ride it in the spring then switch bikes and ride it again in the fall) I dont use stabalizer or drain the carbs and the carbs/fuel are ok.

Just have to say that the best fuel stabiliser is available at any airport selling AvGas. The fuel also has NO ethanol and when you think of general aviation aircraft that sit for months and years between flights you have to remember that the fuel companies do NOT want to get into litigation regarding the condition of the fuel.
I have used AvGas for years and it is fine mixed up to 50-50 and I do not have any gummed up carbs nor do I have any issues starting up after storage.

If I were obliged to lay up a bike for several months a year, I'd drain everything and coat the inside of the tank with diesel fuel.

:D scary to think that episode was 11 years ago on the way to the Lisse Museum opening...sad too to think of the closure. New adventure  later this week as plan to defy death on a scooter in Nam😁

Before a long storage period, I usually run a bit of 2/S premix thru the motor first, layer of 2/S oil can't hurt things.

Speaking of 2 strokes. I was out with a friend yesterday in his 3 cylinder 2 stroke 1964 DKW F12 convertible.
We encountered the usual small group of race bicycle riders thinking they need to ride next to each other
in a 3 formation, being ignorant to traffic behind them.
My friend rewarded their behavior pulling the choke after we finally passed them :P
