Fuel tank on bike not being used.

Evening all.

Due to engine being taken to bits, my Jota is out of use. Last time it go ridden was about 12 months ago. The fuel has by and large evaporated and I am wondering what if any precautions i should take to avoid my tank rusting up or some such. I am in the UK.

Any advice ?

 
My RGS is off the road for a while as well. I removed the tank and put about a litre of engine oil in and give it a bit of a stir now and again to keep things coated.
It'll take a lot of petrol to flush it out before I put it back to use though.
 
If you have gas from the 70's with lead in it, you can put that in, too. When I bought my 750 SF roughyl 8 years ago, it had the tank half full and stood unused for 28 years at the time of purchase. The tank was completely rust free.

Oil is a good method. Diesel might be a good alternative, too. Even removes rust if there is some...
