Fueltank cap.

Hi.

Is it just me, or does the fuel tank cap from a Moto Guzzi Le Mans or California also fit to Laverda 750 SF? They look identical, at least to my eye.


I’m asking because I would like to install a locking fuel tank cap, as I often park the motorcycle on the street.

There a plenty of the same locking fuel caps that will fit - heaps advertised on Ebay from memory. Basically std equipment on many other Italian bikes - the inside sealing ring sizes may differ from bike to bike.

My 120 jota came standard with a locking fuel cap. I got 200km from home to realise the key was in the pocket if my other jacket......
I don't have a locking fuel cap any more.

I had to fit a locking fuel cap on one of my 500’s to satisfy scrutineering requirements. However, as I was only riding it in short races it wasn’t a problem. However, I was well aware of quite a few instances when problems with a locking fuel cap cost people wins in races requiring refuelling so prefer to avoid them if possible.
And as for people nicking a few litres of fuel from a m/c tank then on our bikes if they are really desperate for the fuel it will only take a few seconds longer to remove the fuel tap…..

Andy J I understand you, but my problem is more in the way of someone "putting" some stuff inside the tank. If you know what I mean?

I can now understand why you want one; that’s a whole different scenario and is definitely something you would try to avoid. Is it much of a problem in the area you live?
