fuse location on Laverda Jota 1000 3c (can't find a good shop manual)

Hello!

Fixing a Laverda Jota 1000 for a neighbor and I possibly need to replace the ignition switch. It could also be a fuse but the shop manual pdf I downloaded is very incomplete and missing diagrams or the location of the fuses. Anyone got a source on a complete manual online? Or just let me know where the fuses are?

He wants to go keyless with just an on off switch, but I need to know what's what to wire that up for him.

It depends on the year of the Jota, up to 78 you would find it under the left side cover, a rectangular black plastic box, some late 78s had it under the tool tray under the seat. HTH

Who mentioned a Jota?
Laverda made quite a few models of motorcycle in their short time. Most of them before 1960.

On a 3C the fuse box with 2 fuses is under the left hand side panel.

Well the original poster did start the question with

I think Dave answered his question so I can't understand what the fuck your reply has anything to do with the question!!!

Hi Jack

at the top of the forum page you will see a "Library" category. Click that link. There are several wiring diagrams here for both 1000's and 1200's.

Ah thank you! Sorry I’m new. I pass through a lot of these specific bike forums with whatever comes through the garage. You guys have been tip top and I appreciate it.
 
Well, calling it a Jota 3c is a little ambiguous. It's most likely to be either a 3C or Jota. It's unusual to be both, but I think we can forgive Jack as he's a Laverda newbie.

Anyway, many of these old bikes have been modified so the fuse box could have been relocated. If so, it shouldn't be too hard to find unless it's been eliminated altogether, in which case it might be a good idea to re-fit one. The bike has something odd going on in the oil cooler area, so evidently someone has been fiddling around with it.

As for the ignition switch wiring, the standard wire colours are:
Red = +12V from battery via fuse box.
Grey = switched feed to left handlebar switch block for lights, horn, etc. (activated when key switch is in position 1).
Brown = switched feed to tail light and front park light (activated by key switch position 2. Ignition is not energised in this position).
orange = switched feed to right handlebar switch unit, from where it powers the ignition (via the kill switch) and starting systems. (activated when key switch is in position 1).
 
.... you can short all 4 wires together to provide 12V positive to the motorcycle load, including the run/stop switch for cold crank start. 2 of the 4 wires are high side switched, ie you will not clear a fuse connecting all together for diagnostic purposes until a switch is purchased and connected. You will clear a fuse if 2 of the 4 wires is shorted to frame. HTH j

* the what appears like oil cooler support is a worry?
