Any suggestions why the forum tells me I am banned from the Gallery. I tried to log into the Coppermine platform using my email address and password and it did not recognise me, I tries recover a lost password - same story, then it told I was banned

+1

I can go to the gallery and see the folders and thumnails, but if I try and open a pic then I am asked for login, which is not recognized, then after repeat attempts a ban comes up.

The Coppermine gallery was previously linked to the old (SMF) forum so it uses the same username and password details that you originally used there. So in the case of Fitz, you need to use that for your username and whatever your SMF password was - usually the same as you're now using unless you changed it after the migration to this new forum.

Please note that for users who changed their display name after originally registering with the old forum it will not work since it is your original username that is required.

Any new forum users here (i.e. post 14 Jan) will have to create a separate login to access the Coppermine gallery.

@ Haggis - your SMF username was recorded as Jota981 and that is what Coppermine should be using .... or would have been except that it isn't listed. By any chance did you use a different username before Jota981?

@JoePurple73 - have you registered with the Coppermine gallery?

@Thomas aus LAU - sorry, I don't understand what you mean by
but all personal ordners have gone

In all cases, the ban is a temporary login suspension after 3 unsuccessful login attempts to reduce the risk of ne'er do wells attempting to join the party. It resets after 15mins

Finally(!) I am going to set up an integrated gallery facility linked directly to this forum to avoid the separate login requirement. Just one issue to overcome - importing the existing gallery content 🥴

In the "User Gallery"-area I can see my old folders with my old pictures. See old personal Gallery structure
If I am correctly logged in, I can no longer see any old folders or pictures in "My Gallery".
On the other hand, I see newly created folders and pictures.

It is illogical that the old pictures are there in the corresponding old folders, but not in the current personal area.

Ah, now I understand! The issue arises because your original photos are associated with user laverda lesmo. This dates back to 2008. Your current username was created around the same time.
I think this mix up happened when users were migrated from laverdapedia. In effect you have two separate accounts.
I'll investigate the possibility of merging them for you Thomas

besides it being a human fault not to make a backup, you are talking about a failure, not a mistake. ;) Components fail because they were either designed to (lifetime of a product shall be limited to make sure people buy new stuff) or the person that developed did not know better or had to use components that were to cheap to do the job properly. At the end, it is the human factor that decided about the lifetime, not the computer. Blame the manufacturer, not the component.

‘I felt exactly how you would feel if you were getting ready to launch and knew you were sitting on top of 2 million parts — all built by the lowest bidder on a government contract.’
