Gasket chain cover

Hi, I need to replace the chain cover gasket on my Jota due to oil leakage.

I am a bit worried that the replacement will affect the adjustment of the shifting, is there any tips or tricks I should know about before proceeding?

Just make sure before you tighten the cover screws, the shaft does not bind. Other than that, if it is shifting OK now, there should be no issues.

I used to lever the cover forward whilst tightening it, otherwise I couldn't get all the gears.

Where is the oil leakage? That gasket won’t help. But there is a weep hole from the top of the crankcase under the starter motor which drains out there, which is good for when you spill oil during filling.

Oil leaks somewhere on the right downside of the engine. I am pretty convinced that it comes from either the gear change gasket or chain cover gasket, am I wrong?

I dont have much experience as you probably understand.

Or the gearbox mainshaft or layshaft.
Seal's. Possibly the clutch push rod seal.

Could be from almost anywhere. The back of the engine drains down by that cover.
Thoroughly de-grease the motor, take it out for a run and see if you can spot the source.
