Gasket chain cover

Hi, I need to replace the chain cover gasket on my Jota due to oil leakage.

I am a bit worried that the replacement will affect the adjustment of the shifting, is there any tips or tricks I should know about before proceeding?

Where is the oil leakage? That gasket won’t help. But there is a weep hole from the top of the crankcase under the starter motor which drains out there, which is good for when you spill oil during filling.

Oil leaks somewhere on the right downside of the engine. I am pretty convinced that it comes from either the gear change gasket or chain cover gasket, am I wrong?

I dont have much experience as you probably understand.

Is the clutch slave cylinder leaking?
You can tell by the smell if it's brake fluid or oil. If you're able to degrease thoroughly it will be easiest first step. Unfortunately degreasing inside the cover around the drive sprocket, and seal area is very difficult without removing the covers.

I dont lube final drive chains much, but every time I change a front sprocket, I am amazed at how much caked-on, gritty, stiff black shit there is around the sprocket. Its usualy at least enough to fill a teacup you scrape out of there. No idea why there is always so much.

Sprocket gets nice and hot and any oily/greasy stuff will fling off with the centrifugal force of the chain on the narrow radius.
