Gate post update

Best use for a triple motor , think id have mounted on a wheel bearing with an arrow on top , see which way the wind blows .  😂😂
 
Unfortunately Bruce it isn't my gate post but a mates 100 kays west of Perth. If it went missing he'd be down my way looking for it 8) I do have a 750 motor that I could do one with but all it's missing is the crank so probably too good/repairable the mount on a post.
I'm in the market for a set of crank outers that hopefully Red can machine to suit my SFC centre he has stored for me. Once I finish my house that'll be my next project. A complete crank would be a good start. Anyone got a set of outers surplus to requirements?

Do you mean just the outside webs for primary sprocket and starter clutch?
 
Howdy Lee, that would be them. I have the SFC centre section that came with the spares cache when I brought my SFC. I still have that SF1 motor I got from Phil Briggs back in the 70s.
It's all there except for the crank. Been thinking about rebuilding it into a 270? and make use of Red's skills while they're available. Got most of the running gear spread around the shed except for a frame which I've been thinking about making one based on the spine frame. All straight tubes. I've got the skills to make a jig and have welding mates that can stitch it all together.
A rebuilt crank would be a good start. Or I could take the easy and much cheaper option and turn it into a gate post :D
By the way that triple gate post belongs to Clarkie. You'd probably met him back in the 70s, Brought a new 3c from Ron Gills in 75. Only recently sold it.
 
What happened to the rest of your SF crank I 'borrowed' the centre out of, Rob? I definitely only needed that centre piece after Alfred the eccentric expat German mechanic at Bruce's put 30T into my centre section bolts thinking it must press apart ... until I made him stop! But the damage was done and less than a year later the half teeth fractured and went under the camchain not far from Yalata roadhouse on the Nully and it was onto the back of Lee's to get us both back to Perth!!

The white ants must have eaten them Q.  :D
My guess is that where ever you took it to press apart the ends never came back. Back in those days everything was pretty loose. That's history now.
 
Distinctly remember putting the loose bits back in the box on your mum's front porch!! True. Little Dave was there I'm pretty sure. I would have kept anything like that - only have my original SF1 ends (chopped up - you saw them) and centre. I guarantee I left nothing at Bruce's either - ask Lee where his slightly bent complete 38mm Cerianis went ... maybe don't ask him  :o >:D >:(

But I do take full responsibility!!
