Gear return spring- 81 Jota

For me i did it in neutral -lined the marks up - made sure i could select all gears and adjusted the eliptical bolt so that the hooks were equidistance from the pin on the barrel

Well, take it to a welder and get a blob of weld tacked on, then file to profile to give the eccentric more operating range.

They are, I thought that was correct.

Mine was at 3 and (drum mark at) 9, but needed to be 3 and about 9:30 (or was it 8:30, pretty sure it was 9:30ish), before all gears popped in correctly. Prior to that, I could shift up gears but not down. Either way, was not exactly 3 and 9, but 3 in neutral for sure.

Does it select all gears with no false neutrals when you are riding it? If so I wouldn't worry too much about the difference in shift length. It is a pretty agricultural shift compared to more modern bikes anyway.

Something major wrong then.
Standard gear lever or rearsets?
Right or left foot shift?
Any chance of pics of the selector mechanism under the cover?

Im trying to get rid of the need to lift the lever over 75mm to up change gears.
Makes riding the thing a pain in the arse.

Over 3 inches  :o

Yep, I would want to get that sorted.

Change the lever ratios on the outside.  Travel remains constant at the internal mechanism.
