Even with reverse pattern it would be good sometimes. One track in Norway has a tightening steep downhill right hander ("anxiety" nicknamed corner), 5th coming in, 3rd to get up out of the dip, no room for any boot under the lever.Heel-toe is wonderful once you get used to it. Greatest advantage, for racers at least, no need to get UNDER the lever to change gear when heeled well over. Probably has saved a lot of boot caps... and toes!
Ideal set-up when wearing thongs, too.
