Gear's how do they do??

Yes i did make a couple of rear sets who are finished and are working perfect

Original Dell'orto 36 PHF A carburators why?

I'm gonna post a picture of it... But for the moment I'm working :P 8)

Original Dell'orto 36 PHF A carburators why?

My 72 SF came NEW with Open VBH 30A's and it's futile to use Air Filtration - Mind you these little Hi-Velocity Carbs work great & I've never had problems with Cylinder Bore Wear (Change Oil Frequently) but I'm thinking either Mikuni 34 or 36's may allow me to use Air Filters. Only been riding it with Open Carbs since 72.

I think it's neat that you have chosen a SF as your 1st Bike. The Ride is Spirited and Very capable in to days traffic and best of all they are a charm to work on and maintain - You will never regret it ;o)

What makes you think it's his first bike SF?

He was just having trouble starting, finding a decent throttle response, engaging first hear, letting the clutch out and getting moving. It could happen to any of us  :D

Cheers,
Cam

Well It is my first "real bike"  :D

I learned driving with a HONDA CB600F (from the driving school), so I could not refuse
And than after 8 hours passed the examination got my licence. 2 and a half years of rebuilding the bike and now I'm riding it  :P

Good Stuff Sam,

we should go for a ride together! plenty of nice roads between where you are and where i am.

Ps just got my licence so don't shoot me

;o)

Sam you did a beautiful restoration. Can't tell from the PIC if your Bars are Brevetto or Clip On's. You will find youself tiring of that bar location as time goes by. If they are Clip On's be very carefull that they don't loosen off - Check them constantly.

Sam, as with any Bike, the SF appreciates Good Points (You Cam Modify Bosch VW or take out the Post in the Distributor - Talk to Wolfgang) The Ignition, Timing, Electrics, Clean Carbs and Jetting have to be right on to do 7500rpm+ (I can hit 8000rpm with Stk Cam providing I have new Valve Springs, Change Valve Springs every 3 Years and it's easy to hit 7000rpm with tired Springs plus it's easy to change Springs with a 7/8" box end wrench). Get rid of the Bosch Ignition Sx as it will cut out. Tappets set as per Specs. I run Industrial Diesel Oil; PetroCan DURON XL Syn Blend CI-4 Plus - JASO DH-1 - Zn/P <1.37% @ $5.39 /Liter. I imagine you can find something similar. The Cam Followers appreciate the Zn/P content and the Clutch works great. One thing you should do is Arc Weld the Back Plate of the Starter Clutch to it's Housing to keep the Dog Pins Aligned (Common problem with 750's- You know you have a problem when the Starter complains to Engage and you hear the Dogs Rattle). Change the Fork Oil every Year - Why because you need them Ceriani's to Perform. Good Idea to Drill and tap the Oil Filter Plate with a Magnetic Plug. Change Oil twice a season if you run Open Carbs and put on more then 1000 miles - By then your "Hooked" and she will be your ride, no matter what other Motorcycle you've mounted - for the rest of your life. Oop's I see you Disc's up Front - Be careful when it rains.

You can Cruise all Day between 60 to 80mph, shift down into 2nd below 60mph or 3rd and Cruise 100mph+ until she tires you out or the Police are on to you. With 7500rpm shift's: 0-60mph in 1st, 60 to 80mph in 2nd - I can't explain 3rd 4th and 5th other then it's all about High Speed Cornering and if your not tuned or Aero-Dynamic, 5th will not top out over 120mph +.

PS: Do Ground the Starter Relay through the Neutral Sx to prevent accidental Starter Engagement while Riding. Lots of members flog this point but it's worth while as I and others have had Starters Engage and dump into ashtrays. I do believe the Breganze Factory Emphasized the feature after 1973 - Which boils down to you can not engage the starter while you are in gear.

Hang, ATF your Cables and clean the Asbestos out of the drums every 3 Years - They Never Wear Out.

Personally, the way you have your bike set up, I would not ride her at night or in the rain and that's a shame because a SF, if setup for it, can do it very well were she has provided me with the most memorable experiences I've encountered when Riding and capable of trucking a lot further then what you can endure.

Another PS: File out the Drive Chain Sprocket Cavity to accept "O" or "X" Ring Chains. Keep the chain clean with Diesel Fuel and Spray on a Silicon Chain Lubricant. Always insure the the Big Nut that Holds the Rear Drive Hub to the Swing Arm is Secured - If it gets loose - Be prepared for one Hell of a Wobble Ride to a Stop.
