This may sound stupid!. I have owned the bike from new, Final batch, The red generator/Ignition? light on the binnacle has never worked. Further investigation shows that there's no wire leading up to it or in sight, or is it there somewhere??
Was this a Friday bike or what??

no, its not wired on your bike, very cheapskate of Moto Laverda, but they installed a low cost voltage regulator without the gen light wire, you can make it work, by installing a different reg/rect and extending the wire from it to the bianacle, but you will probably find that there isnt even a bulb holder in the socket, you might even find a live wire in there not insulated, because when Moto Laverda recalled all SFC's thus built to have the originally fitted Smiths clocks changed for the "vague liars" they left it as was, and it can earth causing mystery pops and bangs, not only that but the recall was done by dealers and this also entailed changing the speedo worm and drive wheel in the gearbox down at the front spindle of your bike for the correct ratio, and in many cases this was not done, which is why you speedo may be miles out of accurate, if you hurry you might still be able to buy those parts from Alan Bell, who is Kelip Kelip on e-bay.

Thanks. I guessed this soonish when I bought the bike and actually removed the light as it confused me. No recall ever contacted me from Three Cross. 30+ years later I'm putting it back on the road and have solved this query, I will take a look at the wiring some time but It's all factory stock. All I have added is Jota style pipes, new tyres and a big tidy up of loose ends, carb refurb Etc.. Little video of last week!
I was on this forum about 15 years ago with my Mirage TS (sold) but seem to have been deleted so show as a new member
