Great Service: Daytona Boots

very, very, expensive when new, I know someone who swears by them and has two pairs, he does not drive a car, when one set is off for repair he uses the other, the repairs are dear as well, but very long lasting, they are still going after moe than 25 years, so overall not so much money as you think on initial, outlay, maybe Brexit has ruined that, he is in the UK
CLEM

Daytona is a German motorcycle boot manufacturer. A stretch insert deteriorated on my 7 year old boot: They repaired it for free within 5 days, boots came back shined and oiled, looking like new.

Daytona boots are definitely great (and expensive yes).
Mine (ex Stéphane Mertens, WSBK Mediares team, Honda RC30, 1989.. :giggle: )would need some TLC too.
Could you PM me the procedure (and address) to get them repaired ?

Cheers
Stéphane

I have Daytona boots since I own a motorcyle. the first pair I still own is now 33 years old. It has some issues meanwhile (zipper broke, rubber-protector on top that protects the boots from the shifter causing issue with the leather has hardened and peeled off the boot). All of them are repairable though (at some cost). However, I bought them for 320DM at that time (160€) which makes it roughly 5€/Year of usage.

The next boots I buy are Daytona and they will be the last ones I buy. That is for sure. But they will still outlast me...

ok so who is going to man up and get these then... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 aside from these tasteful items they are very nice boots

Yeah - they do custom boots, too... I have some issues since I had an infection in my leg with water collecting in the leg. This needs some bigger boots and mine are not capable of taking my leg anymore (though you can adjust the Road GTX a LOT). They extra charge for custom made boots are 40% on top of the list price, which isn't to bad considering you get a pair of boots custom made for you.

any requests for repair or custom boots may be issued through their dealers first (recommended) but also could be done using their contact form

Hi Stéphane,
did they help to make you faster ..?
:D;)

Clem, it's like with tools - if you try to save money you buy twice. Their overall quality together with the outstanding repair service puts the cost in another perspective ...

Cheers Jo

I have tried some other more modern boots with plastic everywhere
.. however the "heel and toe" (sfc lever) feeling is definitely better with those Daytona's

And let's not forget: at least the GTX are GoreTex boots. I can confirm that water in the boots does not run out of them!

:ROFLMAO:

Honestly: had a lot of shitty weather either in Austria or when we crossed the italian border when going from Bavaria to the Pompone meetings at Maurizzio's place in the 90's, but my feet remained dry always! Not all of my friends could say that, some had their boots wet even still on the tour back..

Them there boots with the flames are specially designed for speedway, no tread on left boot and big heel on right. Best in the game.
Well spotted. They’re even reinforced on the left boot at the front for the steel/cobalt toe to slip in. The extra big heel keeps ya foot forward on the peg. And narrow enough at the calf to allow ya leathers to cover, without bunching.

Very well thought out.

Had Daytonas too, years ago and they looked fast??but half the sole was grinded away. I had no idea to send them back to the factory for repair. 😂

"Other mothers also have beautiful daughters."

1978, 43 years ago on a trip with the 750 Laverda in the former Yugoslavia, my Alpin Star boots were "end of live".

I then drove across the border to Trieste/Italy and bought ultra-modern Gaerne motocross boots for around 130 marks. That was a lot of money back then! Unfortunately, we got another 20 marks (negotiated) on the way back, because we had overlooked a Yugoslav radar control on the country road at 130 km/h.

Since then, I've only been riding a motorcycle with these boots, regardless of whether I've been on the Trail-Montesa, a Maico MC 490 or the Laverdas.

The boots have now seen several continents, many countries and over 200000 km of roads.
During this time I had the Vibram soles changed 7 times (approx. 60 EUR each) and the last time I had to renew the oak (!) bar inside for the first time because it was broken.

A zipper cannot break because there isn't one.
The leather is still perfect thanks to US Army saddle leather oil. 🤫

So I invested a total of 490 EUR with purchase and "maintenance". This results in costs of 11.40 EUR/year.
Seen in this way, the expensive purchase 43 years ago, was a super cheap deal.

I will wear these boots, as long as I ride my motorcycles.

I had a pair of Alpine Star Mugellos for 30 years but they got wet during winter storage a couple years back and were completely full of mold. The Daytonas I have now are a great fit, very snug, but too racy to get into easily.

You sure these aren't actually the Stephane Mertens pair? I was at Phillip Island the year his 916 hit the deck then found its wheels again and careered down the pit wall (without Stephane!) ablaze - a fireball flying down that wall at 200+!! Whenever I think of him I think of fire and flames!!
