Hello Laverda friends.

I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I’m new to this forum, thanks for having me!

I’m in my early 40’s and I own a 1973 Laverda 750 SF1. I have been thrilled with this bike and it never fails to impress me.

I bought my SF1 about 15 years ago and the only work I have done to it was change the tires, oil, adjust valves, change the points, time it, weld the battery tray and change the battery (twice) starter clutch rebuild and maintinance and a few other basic things. In all, this bike has been a dream. Reliable, strong, beautiful and exotic. I don’t hesitate to ride it a few hundred miles a year and it always turns heads. I live in Michigan but I go to northern Italy often. My goal would d be to meet some people there who know of Laverda events and maybe find some leads on parts? I don’t need anything really but it might be nice to find the other half of the chain guard and a new exhaust system eventually.
One thing I must say is that this bike sounds absolutely incredible. accelerating and then rolling off of the gas and hearing that low rumble/growl is absolutely invigorating. One general question I have is will changing the exhaust headers or mufflers with any re-issues make it sound any better or worse? I would hate to compromise that tone in any way. Also, is the crossover pipe still very hard to find or is anyone re-making any of those? my chrome is starting to show some wear here and there but the bike is all original. thanks for having me, this seems like a great group. I welcome any insights from the professionals.

Welcome to the mad house 😵‍💫
Any of the straight through Conti copies will work fine and sound great. Malcolm Cox (coxeng) among others makes original pattern pipes and mufflers for with and without the big collector (which he also makes iirc).

Ciao Fabrizio - well, a 'young one' in our midst (only early 40s!) 🤣 Most of us are old codgers, so great to have you along for the ride. If your bike hasn't done huge miles ('a few hundred miles a year'?) you may find it easy enough to have exhaust parts rechromed. As mentioned, Malcolm Cox in the UK has very high quality replica exhaust system parts made for most Laverda models.

Other events will happen, and will be listed on this Forum.
With luck we'll meet in the future.

Thanks for this information! I’m happy to relive my youth here I suppose! hahaha. Here in detroit, there was a plating shop on every corner in the 70’s (I was told) but over the years, they have all gone the way of the Dodo. I’ll try reaching out one of these winters! Thank you!!
Thanks for this information, hopefully I can attend this next year

Thanks for this info! thats great news knowing that someone is remaking the exhaust AND the collector! this is fantastic news, I love that thing.

your Sf1 looks very nice and good to hear it,s running well for you. I want to add that the Malcolm Cox exhaust system that came w my SF is very well made and Dam Classic Racing offers cross over headers. Varying opinions on the need for the cross over pipes.
