Posted this about 3 wks ago. Bottom of engine has 2 bolts by the rear oil fil. Front are not bolts but are studs. Took pics of the #s plate. Definitely says Sf. My guess is someone cross built an engine w/ a Gt bottom. Unless Laverda used bottom Gt half w/ bolts on the bottom rear? Bolts are a long hex. Checked title again. It is a 1975. I have not split the case yet...Someone wrote could be damaged a few wks ago. Title frame & engine #s are Ok. Could factory have done the Gt bottom & used 2 bolts? Back in 75???

I have motor 15467 from a SF1
I also brought new SF2 15920
in 1974 and having 35mm forks would make it 1973 and the SF1 would also be 1973 so your motor being in the middle would also make it 1973.
Don't see it being 1975.

Agree with Rob, for a 1975 the number would have been in the 18000 bracket. This bike must have been produced late 1973, when the (new) factory was in SF2 production mode.
The GT stamping may well mean a mix of crankcase halves, one needs to be really lucky to have a pair that is a good fit.

Yes, my SF2 is 15838 with 35mm forks.
Titles and registrations are one thing, manufacturers numbers, another. Numbers reflect year of manufacture.
Indeed, maybe mismatched crankcase halves. The bolts in lieu of the studs would attest to some intervention.

Had an ex-US delivered 1974 GT with SF compliance plate.

It seems that at one time all US imported 750 twins got the "SF" compliance plate?

A picture of the frame would identify the bike. GT frame was quite different, right up to the end of GT production.

Bought as a parts bike. Had Gt tank, Bosch headlamp w/ wiring, Gt metal seat, only 1 Smiths, no fenders. Low compression on one cyl. Bought from one of the used Motorcycle dealers here. Was disappointed that one cylinder sleeve was chipped in 2 places on top when I took it apart in the late 80s. Still have not gotten that sleeve out...Won't budge! Machine shop wants $180 for that job w/ putting the new one in. Too much!!! But for $500USD I say 15538 was an Ok deal back in 84. Thanks for the info I will deal w/ it. #s Should be what is on factory records. Being shipped overseas changed Title is my guess. Texas is a weird place.

Hi Piet,

Mine was a GT frame (weld fabricated top engine brackets, lower top rails, original air filter/battery tray, longer rear frame loop), GT mudguards and GT crankcases.

Just a US compliance plate stating it was an SF.

In response to one of Evan's other threads I posted details and picture showing that in US the "GTF" models of the GT with Laverda "F" brakes were sold at least up to 1974 with my own GTF having a headstock plate stamped April 1974 and "750 SF", motor and chassis numbers close to those on early SF2 models.
