GT tank racks

Do the GT tanks with hinged fuel caps have fittings for a tank rack ?

I don't want to start scraping paint looking for filled screw holes !

Cheers,

Rob

I think not but can't remember. I seem to remember however that the racks are screwed on to raised bosses on the tank, not a question of simple hole filling. Haven't got any tanks to hand because of divorce!

Yep, Paul's memory is good. No need to be scaping paint off to try and find filled in holes as they will not be there!

I'm not convinced that tank racks are any use anyway. I had one on my old Triumph bonneville back in the 70's. I don't think I ever used it. It looked like it could be a castration device in the event of a prang.

Racks may be obtainable from John Mackay, who has posted on this forum previously. Haven't seen him post on this forum lately so don't know if he still sells them but a lot of people were very happy with his work.

John has all the measurements that he needs to be able to reproduce the 'factory' rack as he had my one for a while.

When I was a youngster many many, years ago those tank top racks on Triumphs were colloquially known as 'goodie catchers'.
