Many will already know that Hagerty include RAC breakdown and recovery with their insurance, but in case you don’t, I’d highly recommend. For £120 a year I get insurance and the RAC cover which last Easter weekend got me and my 3c back from Monmouth to London on bank holiday Sunday without any quibble, God knows what it cost.

That sounds like very good service, and well worth the cost for that kind of piece of mind.
Here it is usual to get a service that only gets you to the “nearest place of repair”, which can be a lottery, and doesn’t include “my shed”.

Unbelievably I was given a choice of taking the bike direct home (160 miles), or to garage of my choice (110 miles) and then onward transport for myself back home after dropping off the bike. Couldn’t be better?

my Chevvy pick up broke down in February, I have RAC cover. I waited 8.5 hours in freezing cold wet conditions (no heater remember and I am 70 with kidney transplant problems) for a pratt to turn up with a 4x4 and triax trailer that (might) have been a foot too short to load the 19.5 foot long 2.35 ton vehicle onto, If it had been my trailer, it would have gone on (end of) but this prat made all sorts of excuses why to NOT EVEN TRY and left me, another 4 hours to get a 7.5 ton flat bed to recover me home and this prat (yes thats two prats in one day) could not get up my drive forwards or backwards and insisted on leaving the truck in the road! I have had many 8 leggers full of muck departing here and few delivering type 1 etc and personally driven a 90 ton seven axle crane and a 40ft artic (twice) up the same drive.

RAC sent me a "how did we do survey" about 2 weeks later, I answered every single question with the words "please get your CEO or a very senior person to contact me" I have had no response. Much to my anoyance it renewed automatically, but in reality if you want this cover there is very little choice outside of the big three, RAC, AA, Green Flag.

RAC are not my flavour at the moment.

Just as a side note- my insurance included European assist ( breakdown and full recovery to UK) all very good.
whilst reading the small print the phone number to use can only be called using a landline, fat load of good for me half way up a mountain, middle of no where- worth reading through .

Yeah, I’ve been caught like that, with toll free/freephone numbers. No problem if you’ve got their standard number and don’t mind paying the bill.
They probably do that because they don’t trust themselves not to leave you on hold for hours 🤨
