When I purchased my SFC I only receceived a RGS handbook. Didn't surprise me. On one of the pages there's an instructor wearing Laverda leathers.! Always makes me chuckle.

And the idea that you should get off the bike to put it on the side stand. Yeah, right. Well practical, especially well fully luggaged up....

Shorten the thing by half an inch or so, and you can use it while still sat in the saddle. And improve the lean angle at the same time ...

I think that is the Laverda test-rider. He had "prova" (Testing) also on his back... :)

on my second leather suite that I bought just after I purchased my first Laverda, I got a leather tailor cut the Laverda letters out of leather and stich it to the back of my jacket. cost almost the same as the leather suite itself, but man, was I proud... 😇 😂

Shorten? I was thinking of extending mine by half an inch or so, to improve the lean angle as the damn thing leans over far too far.

Maybe I should check the pivot is at the right angle.

that could well be Fernando capelloito, in the icture or maybe Guiseppi Andrighetto, the former is not known as "two million kilometre man" for nothing, this is the logged distance he recorded as a factory tester, the "Prova" on the back of the leathers is Italian for "testing" both gents were frequently used as "models" in photo shoots, and for sure gents they both are. I have known Fernando for more than three decades but I only discivered about ten years ago (in Denmark) that he speaks French, so do I, and at last we could converse without an interpreter.
CLEM

on my SFC1000 I don't think it's possible to kick the side stand out whilst seated. I always have that precarious moment dismounting, leaning bike over to me and initialise centre stand dreading it doesn't go other way.
On my Mirage (better balanced) I was able to rotate the bike through 180 degrees on one leg of the stand and spin round with it. It was a knack that always got a funny look.

Before I removed the side stand I had no problems kicking it out whilst sat on the bike, the problems tended to start as I got off the bike: on a couple of occasions I ended up face down with the SFC lying across the back of my legs. For anyone that remembers my diminutive ex-wife*, you can imagine the reaction when I had to ask her to lift the SFC enough for me to extricate myself :)

These stands are indeed pretty shit as delivered but very easy to modify into a non-retracting stand that is super easy to deploy even for short buggers like me and ends up extremely stable.
See my post with photos here:
Public safety disclaimer - you should fit an ignition cutout switch.
