Hope you all are browsing the classified or getting a final ride in. It's bitter cold here in the Midwest but I'm looking forward to getting some garage time in with the bikes or a last blast before the WD40 bathing. Looking forward to the new year and getting many more miles logged in 2021. Cheers and Happy Holidays to all.

Christmas is a holy day.

At least it was until capitalism and imperialism transformed it to exploit the masses.  :D

It was the winter solstice until the christians butchered anyone who wouldn't?join their cult.

Quite possibly the solstice wasn't verified until maybe 4 days later (the lengthening of the days is rather imperceptible at first) so once they knew for certain that the days were getting longer then they had a festival ........ thus the solstice is celebrated on the same day Lemmy and Baby Jesus were born.

How wondrous are the ways ........

Winter solace is a very personal notion and has nothing to do with boxing or ice hockey. When is ice hockey day anyway?

As for butchering people, any event is a very good excuse.

Paul

Ice hockey day isn?t celebrated where I live. We don?t have ice hockey here, they tried to introduce it, but all the players drowned in the pool.

We are working on Syncronised swimming day though, at least that?s what I think the Aldi adveriment was about

here here Paul, I am with you 100% on that. And I do not object to religion at all, except when it causes war, each to their own comfort.

as most who know me I do not celebrate Christmas, and have wanted to opt out for decades, but only actually abstained for eight years, this year I entered "the scene" a tiny bit because I did not want four grandchildren and two teenage step grandchildren to miss getting a present from me, but that's it!

many thanks to those who sent me Christmas cards, the thoughts are appreciated, you know who you are, I would like to remind my friends that I don't send Christmas cards at all, instead I donate ?120 annually by standing order, to cancer research and have done for more than 30 years, I will not allow the card makers and their subcontractors, the selling shops and the post office to take any of this money, I don't even allow cancer research UK to mail me news items and updates, that took a bit of doing but I got there in the end, don't waste this precious money, I do read newspapers  and I watch the TV news, This year I received a card which was supporting a charity, I thought "that must be good" and then I noticed the tiny percentage of net profits which was paid, it made me cross, the envelop cost more to have the glue pasted on to it!

No.
How much did you pay?

We worked out a deal: Jim sent me a year's subscription to the fan club, T-shirt & signed poster and I sent him a PHB 36AD carb I had knocking around, he needed a door stop...

My lawyers are onto it.
