Hi

I have a big problem, I cant get my head gastet tight  :(. I have done all what the service book says. And used a new gasket. Anyone who has a good tip. The bike is a Monty 500, S1 cams.

Is the surface of the head flat?
Is the surface of the barrels flat too?
What torque values are you using to tighten the head down?

Is it leaking oil or is it blow by from the combustion chamber?

Where did you source the gasket?

have your liners been replaced at some stage.?
or the head skimmed.?

liner spigot is not too proud thus holding the head off the barrel.?

using a spray clean the area then dry
blow or dust some fine powder around the sealing area (baby powder works good)
start it up and turn it off
look to see where the leak is
when the location is found you may have a clue to why it leaks

Put the head on the barrel without a gasket to check that the spigots aren't too high as Red says.  I struggled for a long time until I realised this was a problem on my 180- you could see there was too much gap easily on my bike.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try me and see if I can find the fault. I also think it is because it can not be strapped together because something is too high. Can the liners be to high?

Cheers Ole
