Head Gaskets

Got the skimmed Jota head back today, and yes, now that I can see it clearly, that weird mis-shapen edge is just the shape of the cast iron skulls.

The alloy part of the head wasn't too bad (I'd only measured about 1 thou warp) but the edges of the iron skulls in cylinders 1 and 2 were eroded or burnt away, presumably from the hot gases leaking past them. He had to take 12 thou off to get them back to good metal. So the head will be sitting 0.3mm lower. Fortunately, I have one of Phil Todd's 1.3mm thick head gaskets (which conveniently happens to be 0.3mm thicker than standard) so all will be well. I shouldn't have to re-clock the cams.

Now I'm wondering if the BS013 O-rings (1.6 mm thick) that I bought the other day will have enough crush on them to seal properly with the thicker gasket.

received my first batch of 20 brand new head gaskets yesterday from Wolfgang with the correct 1.3mm flame ring set up
Athena finally came to the party but not until Wolfgang visited their factory and spoke with their head engineer

am very pleased, saves us a bunch of time not having to drop and sort out original liner recession set up
