I know this has been gone over a lot but I am going to print out the diagram for head bolt torquing sequence and write up the CORRECT Toque setting and laminate it so I don't have to ask again or fuck it up. So what did we arrive at as the best toque figures for Triple Head Bolts,considering the different values found in different manuals and how catastrophic pulling a stud is to fix.Anyone want one of these while I do mine? They will be $466 each plus postage. Naa, whatever its costs me plus postage

Also don't forget that when torquing up there are percentage steps (and in theory when releasing torque).
This may prevent distortion of the casting!
So, torque to 25% of final torque all around in a set sequence, then 50%, 75% and finally 100%.
That's how I bloody do it anyway!

And remember, if the head has inserts and/or you use lubricant the torque value may need to be modified to suit.

And when you've done it! And all appears tickety boo, when you check the valve clearances they will have changed, so you will have to do it all again, ha ha! ( that would be a very manic ha ha btw)
Oh yes. I've never understood why a simple process involving a bit of measuring and basic calculations can be so frustrating. I have no intention of ever doing my valves ever again- as long as Keith is in business anyhow.
