Does anyone have a photo of the correct headlight bucket for a 68' American Eagle. I am restoring #1399 and #1424. I have 2 headlight buckets. One is solid on top and one has a hole (speedometer like BMW) with a rubber bung in it. Both are useable, but which one is correct? Most photos I see online have the rubber bung filling the speedo hole.

Thanks in advance!

The very earliest American Eagles used the headlamp bucket with the large hole c/w Laverda logo rubber grommet. #1399 would most likely have this h/lamp (BMW nearest equivalent was the R25). #1424 may have the later h/lamp?

Indeed. My 750 number 1460 doesn't...
My AE #1303 has bung.

FYI: Following my mishap last year my h/lamp bucket was total loss. I knew from initial restoration NOS parts were/are available from Motorrad Stemler (sp?), Germany, amongst others. From their parts diagrams/lists I wasn't clear which was the nearest equivalent BMM. It's the R25 bucket. I sent them photos of my bucket and asked...The R25 is identical but doesn't have the hole for the red (why red not blue, too early?) full beam idiot light at 2 o'clock from the bung, c. 14mm, easily modified.

Put the bucket with bung on #1399 and the bung-less bucket on #1424.

Another bucket with large hole needing bung are available... Laverda logo'd bung... Good luck!!
