Headlight lens

I need a head light lens for my 75 SF2...for LH traffic. I think it is 7 " diameter
Mine is for RH traffic....bit strange since the bike originally came from Australia.
Would they be the same as for other brands/models of that era ?

Mine, new in '76 in the UK came with a Continental dip. I blacked it out and rode like that for forty years. Eventually, I bought a RHD lens, from a BMW dealer ( for a 75/90/100 Boxer), IIRC, and fitted it.3cE front.jpg

SF2 and 500 were equipped with the same type Bosch 160mm headlight as BMW R45/65 models, the lens is possibly still available from your friendly local Beemer dealer.

Reflectors, lens and rims from /6 and /7 Beemers will fit the triples, R100 Mystic and several early 4-valve boxers used the same complete 180mm headlight unit. Also found on Ducati Dramas and early Monsters.

New SF3 I took to moto reg in Perth had a RH cutoff and a guy interrupted my tester and told him it was illegal - my tester basically told him to fuck off, in front of me! I gathered the interrupter was a bit of a prick to work with and this guy was jack of him playing policeman over his work. The interrupter was of course absolutely correct but I enjoyed seeing an otherwise officious rego dude put in his place.

Did any 750's have a correct headlight in Oz? I recall it was wrong on my Dad's SF2 (this when the bike was only 2-3 years old so presumably original) and he bought another one from Eades or whoever it was then, and it was also incorrect.
All my 3 RGx based bikes with the square headlight dip the wrong way, I can't trace any back to new, but the one in my RGA was definitely bought as a new spare part in the late 80's by my Dad from Eades when he also bought the SFC1000 replica rairing and genuine instruments.
All of the 7" Bosch headlights I have for/on 180 triples are the correct dip though.

At Stanco we had to put a bit of tape on the glass of any new SF3 that went in for rego. They checked the cutoff of my bikes from Australia when I had them inspected for rego here. Luckily the VFR one is flat, no higher side on it. I fitted my old SF2 headlight into the ´81 Jota fairing on the Laverda.

Mount the headlight so it shines sideways, then fit a 45° mirror to reflect it forward. The dipped portion of the beam will then be on the correct side of the road. Probably not the preferred solution for rivet counters though.
