Help needed with parts

Hi everyone ! Being new to laverda ownership and the forum I’d love a little help directing me to the right places . Firstly my bike is a 1978 180 Jota in gold . I’m looking for a pair of 38mm marzocchi stanchions , seat or seat base original or good aftermarket and an outlet where I can buy the DAM clutch extension arm ( the one that doesn’t require the case to be butchered ) and last of all the side stand conversion that fits close to the swing arm area , hope this makes sense and thanks in advance .
 
Have a look at the Steine Dinse site for stanchions or get them repaired by Philpotts, I have bought stanchions from Steine Dinse before now, I think they are remanufactured by Tarozzi.
 
If you buy your Dam clutch operating lever direct from Australia, you will get a nasty shock on the shipping charges and then the UK import taxes and carrier "handling charge" the later properly pisses me off, I mean you pay the supplier to ship to your door, and the Aus carrier will have a UK partner to do that and is paid by the Aus shipper (if not the same company), so this charge is not justifiable. It has to be said that Greg's charges have hurt me hugely in the past, what do others think?
or am I just too tight?

It would be interesting to know which part of our small planet you live on. Makes a big difference for parts availability and prices.

The Australia Dam website has been down for months now. It was originally to move premises according to the message posted. It now says it is down for maintenance, so no orders can be placed. No idea why now. I would like to order one of these easy clutch levers as well.
 
If you are desperate it's not difficult to fashion an extension of the shape of your choosing and have it welded to the existing lever - I prefer cutting the small slot required, but you can easily do the dogleg. It's a very simple part.
 
Has anyone in Melbourne been in contact with Greg Parrish? His Laverda parts website has been down for quite a while now. I'm just wondering if there's been any news on when (or if) it will re-open. His cinematography website still appears to be active.
 
Wouldn't be too hard to make one, but then again I'm the sort of guy that makes stuff and it helps to have a shed full of too;ls.
A nicely executed slot in the cover doesn't look too bad. IMO the dam one looks ugly sticking out of that hole, sort of an after thought.
When I get around to replacing the clutch plates with a set of Red's kevlar jobbies I plan to go back to original set up. I don't find the clutch action too heavy compared to the SFC. When I brought my 1200 it came with the extended lever and a very badly cut slot and I've never liked the clutch action. Have put up with it for 36 years. I'm in 2 minds whether to cut the cover like the SFC or get the badly executed slot welded up and re- polished. None of which is a priority atm to deal with it.

Wow I wonder what’s going on, must have something to do with COVID…..
 
You can get the all new "DAM extended lever with incorporated bottle opener,"(y) however I prefer my "Slotted Case Extended lever".

nothing wrong with a slot if you do it on a mill and use a cutter 1mm bigger than the blade, but fill in and weld up the rubber bung hole, it serves no useful purpose and the slot needs to go right up to the shoulder of the case, this leaves it weakened and prone to cracking under the heavy load of the clutch springs, after prolonged use

I have one of the DAM clutch levers I have had for years, I would never go back to the original Laverda lever or cut a slot in a perfectly good cover, why would you when you don't have to. The look, I think it adds to the mechanical look of the bike and definitely makes that clutch lever friendly to use especially around town and in traffic/lane splitting.
When Greg mailed it to me (USA) he simply put it in a padded envelope and mailed it in the regular mail, I think it was less than $3 postage. Shipping charges? No import or tax fees for this kind of thing in the US, Biden hasn't changed that yet:( Dave

I've got a DAM lever on my much used SF2 and my soon to be much used 3C. I totally agree with Dave. No way would I cut a cover now particularly as the cable covers are getting rare. Maybe because of all the split hydraulic covers out there?

The lever has however holed my right boot.
