Hello everybody!
I'm Marco, from Bologna, Italy!

First of all, please excuse me for my english, for the future!

I'm 34 and I'm a proud (or maybe masochist) Laverda owner since 2008.
My first Laverda has been a 2000 Ghost 668, sold in 2014 to a friend for spares after a crash, then in 2016 I bought a 1998 Laverda 750S.
YES BOTH ZANES!!  8) 8) 8)

Of course I've had to rebuilt the engine of both after some faults, in full Laverda's style.

The worst fault (at the moment!) has been a crack in 750 right crankcase: the support of the freewheel shaft of the starter gear (i hope it's clear) has broken. I had to rebuild it, but now it's reinforced! and I also built a couple of gears with lower ratio (known upgrade for 750s).

But I also love riding and travelling, not just servicing, so I also have a 2000 VFR800Fi, that never faults, with some upgrades..
And a 2002 SV650 for my girlfriend!

so, that's all more or less!

all the best!

Marco,
Welcome to the Circus!  LOL!  Great bunch of guys on here!  If they don't know it, or have not seen it, then it probably has never happened!!  Hahahahahah!

Ciao Marco,
You're English is fine.
A very strange problem the breaking of the lodging for the starter wheel shaft!

Paul

well, yes.. but you know, what's best in Zanes is that you never know what could go wrong!  :D

anyway, I should have some pics somewhere.. I could open a new thread to show you!

Ciao Marco it makes me happy to hear of  "younger" Laverda owners in our international community, and you come from the mother land
Bravo and Benvenuto.

Oh, really!? good to know, i'm still the "younger" somewhere, despite my age!!  :D :D

I've seen you're really international!

Anyone from Canada?! I'd really REALLY love to move there, bringing my 750S, of course!

Welcome Marco, Bologna??
Do you happen to know Roberto Giupponi from Bologna? He likes to drink beer, lots of beer.

unfortunately not! even if we share the same passion for gods' nectar!
but to be honest, there's a bunch of people with the same passion here.. drinking tanks of beer and wine!

... And food. Many happy days spent in Bologna eating the wonderful grub. Fabulous place.

Had a great night in the Oteria del Sole. Off season, so no tourists (apart from us) and  with the local folk sharing out the food they had brought in from the deli down the road. Lots of wine and laughter.....

Anyway, I went of on a happy tangent there, what I meant to say was, welcome along Marco. Good times with the bikes.

Welcome Marco to the very knowledgeable and often tongue in cheek forum. I think Chris was in the latter with his question. I live in Oslo, and a Turkish taxi driver here, on hearing I was Australian, asked me if I knew his brother who drove a taxi in Sydney, "everyone knows him"!
The "modern" Zane bikes have always been seen as challenging, but they also say that the riding makes it all worth while. As our Breganze bikes age ever more they are in some ways catching up, there is always something, and the riding makes it worthwhile.

well.. this is definetly unexpected.. talking about our Osteria del Sole in an international Laverda forum!  Maybe we were in the same room! who knows!
I spent lots of time drinking wine there, during my university years!

come on, it's not so strange! i mean, Sydney counts 5mln peole, i think.. In bologna we are ten times less!

yeah, riding a Zane is a great experience (when it works)! it's rough, indeed, but it's different from any other bike..

Complimenti per la tua proficienza elevata nell'inglese, Marco! Sembra che abbia passato un po di tempo in un paese di lingua inglese? Stati Uniti per caso?

It's funny hearing you say the Zanes are a bit rough. They feel pretty refined to un Breganzanista!  :D

ahah you're right! some years ago, i met a guy with an original SFC 750, near Bologna (quite rare, isn't it?!). He saw me with my Ghost 668 and we stopped in a gas station. after some chatting he offered me to try his SFC.. i denied the ride, but i jumped in the bike and fired it up.
WOW.
it was rough just on the center stand! i can't imagine riding it.. maybe similar to the Benelli Tornado 650 of a friend of mine

Ciao Marco, welcome to our group of massively Laverda-virus infected bunch of guys.

I am happy to have both experiences of Breganze and Zan?-Laverdas (I have a 2000 Formula in orange/blue) and can well understand your love to them. I have ridden other modern bikes and not many can keep up with these bikes in terms of handling. Just love it. But then I also love the Breganzes... for being rough.... for their vibrations, their bark... Riding an italian classic in italy is an experiance that is hard to beat. I have so many great memories riding around the Breganz region, the Garda lake and its "little sisters" (Ledro, Iseo, Idro). Just big fun.

We indeed have some people from Canada on here, Paul LeClair to name one. He lives in the south-west, I think to remember in British Columbia, near Vancover?

and then there is Wolfgang Haerter, born in Germany and migrated into Canada several decades ago. He runs http://www.laverda.ca/

For sure there are more than that, but the two spring to mind.

Again - welcome!!

thank you very much for all these replies!
I've seen our italian Laverda forum dying, and it's really great to see so many people talking about Laverdas! I wasn't used to anymore!
