High Tech SKF fork seals

I have two very expensive and very good mtb forks and one of them is factory fitted with these special low friction skf seals.
That fork Works very well indeed. Less stiction, very smooth and supple. Perfect.

The other one is a similar fork, just factory installed with ordinary "medium-stiction" seals. I bought the green skf ones and they kept popping up. I tried all kinds of tricks, I went through 3 sets and it still didn't Work. I bought all kinds of special tools for a small fortune, and i went through 14 different specialist bicycle shops but to no avail. They kept on nt working.
I dropped it, and installed standard seals, and they Work.

My advice is to be ready to accept it as a trial and error, and eventually revert back to standard fork seals, if they keep on making trouble. But in some cases they do Work. The patern on the outside is not good enough to keep them seated.

So for the mo, I keep on using Marzocchi fork seals in my M1R forks. But i would certainly like to be able to use the low stiction ones.
It looks like SKF needs to review the manufacturing of their low friction seals, and revamp them a bit better.
Btw, they come in both green and Black versions.

For now, it's a bit of hit or miss.

Kind regards,
Jacques.

No issues with the fork seals,I now have them in my Pantah with 38mm Maz forks and the Laverda with 38mm Cer forks, haven't done more than 500ks on either bike. Both have major engine issues. So no leaks and better action all round. Now its a countershaft bearing collapse on the pantah and blown piston ring lands on the 3C.
