History of Club Laverda NSW

Trying to find the early history of the club. Possibly kicked off by Bruce Lamb in 1976 at the Epping Hotel. By 1981 Dave Hodgson was member number 33. Anybody have any recollections?

Yep, was a member early eighties, along with Dave Illingworth, Dan and Anne Fahey, Ralph and others whose names I have unfortunately forgotten.
Remember the guy (to my shame I can't remember his name) who crashed on the Wiseman's Ferry Road near Spencer, Dan and I administered CPR until the ambos arrived, sadly to no avail. The following night we went up to the crash site and placed a small plaque on a tree, I wonder if it's still there.

Let’s see who I remember from my time

The two Trillos
Leno
John K
Ralphie
Marty
Armco Dave, no relation to Armco Lee
Chris P
Rob Berryman
David H
Bobby
Woldek
Spiffie? moved to Port Mc
Southerners:
Batto
Craig
Richard

That was a very sad day . I remember saying to the boys to go easy when we left them at the pub , jaffle ( red 1200 )

From what I remember of that day; it was a club ride up the Old Road with a stop at the Mount White Cafe, we then headed off to Wiseman's Ferry for lunch and Dan the Man and I sprinted off up through Peat's Ridge and down towards Wiseman's. Dan and I stopped off at Spencer for a cigarette then when the rest of the club went passed, we headed off in hot pursuit. It wasn't long before we came across the accident scene, the rider had come off and ended up down an embankment amongst the rocks. Tried giving CPR and mouth to mouth until the cops and ambos turned up but unfortunately there was nothing that could be done. We asked a passer by to inform everybody at Wiseman's then Dan and I had to ride, under police escort (lights and sirens), to Gosford to identify the body.
Can anybody remember the guys name?

That Club Laverda NSW rally in Armidale? Bloody hell Marty, once I was young in a far off distant galaxy.
That was the first road ride on my Spondon-Jota back in 1987. Not smart to carry no luggage for a camp up on the New England Tablelands.
I do recall retiring, after much some alcohol had been consumed, with just a light ground sheet pulled over me in my full leather riding apparel. Lucky that Rob had his sidecar there and we had collected much needed firewood for the evening festivities. Attempting to sleep was futile at best.

I was member number 69. Had my black and gold Jota then, which I bought new. I changed it to dark cherry candy apple red with same gold pinstriping. Sold it to fund Mirage build. Often wonder what became of it.

Jaffle? red 1200?

Well both Tommy boy and an old fiend Glocky (sadly since departed) and I went to this rally in the Warrambungles, there was a lamb on the spit and warm white Tooheys cans aarrgghh, we did a double rally that weekend and took off to the Bikers limited rally at Dubbo now that was an interesting event.
Tom was on his new Corsa Glocky on his RGA Jota and me on my 81 Jota.
I remember riding around the edge of lake George with the three triples honking and Glocky behaving like a mad man!!!! Later the next week in Canberra Glocky and I were "slightly"above the speed limit and the law intercepted both of us one eluding to a pair of similar looking speeding bikes around lake George a couple of weeks earlier, I had to start an afternoon shift job so the cops let me go, but Glocky got a free ride in the back of the van.

What's the go with being carted off in the paddy wagon, Maurizio? How far over the limit were you guys? It freaks me out a bit when the velocity means you've overshot the on-the-spot fine zone, even when it's done on the most remote roads in the country.

A mate went to THAT Bikers Limited rally if I remember right, apparently there was a display of the power of Gelignite on disposing of cars. What's the chance of that going wrong with a fully pised crowd.

Big speed bust in NSW, 30ks over the limit ,2 grand fine and a minimum 6 months walking. 40ks over and that's a hanging offense, Speed Dangerous to the public. Possible Goal time. And I think back to Ps when you get your license back for both. So pick your spot, absolutely nowhere close to Sydney, way to danger. Its a bit academic for me, its corner speed in the tight stuff. Unless your in THAT particular area. No chance in Victoria, just cruising at 120 in the middle of nowhere seems to cause an insane reaction from the cops, who then do U Turns and do stupid speeds to catch you, NUTS.

Here is an example, just saw on The Putty Rd Facebook group that where is a Mobile Speed Camera car near the Putty turnoff and Cops hiding in the bushes with radar in the 80k bit on the south end of the road. Typical Sunday.
