home made shims

Is there a way to make my own shims? There are a lot of parts that need some adjusting shims, (flat ones) it is very frustrating to stop all the work to order some shims that at the end do not fit exactly, or you find out in couple of days that you need further shims for other engine parts...

So I thought that it could be possible to do them myself?

Regards,
Miguel

Not many shims on a Laverda engine. 750 rockers. Gearbox. All the rest, you just throw in.
Most would have some sort of hardening process I imagine.

I've used metal hole punches on stainless or brass sheet, but wouldn't trust them in every application. I contacted a guy in Melbourne who custom makes any shim you want. Made from the right material for any app; not a home job I wouldn't think.
