The 550 SS was a great bike! They called it the backroad bandit!

Can I ask what a 550 SS is? Having owned 400/4 and 550/4, I am familiar with 550 K1 (North American market), 550 K3 , 550 F1 and 550 F2.

FWIW, I have a complete Paul Dunstall cafe racer kit for the 550 Honda. Fairing with windscreen, fairing lowers, seat unit and fuel tank. Must go, offers entertained.

In Canada, it was a 550-4 with 4 into 1 exhaust rather than 4 I to 4 exhaust.

The 400 four was a great little bike if you didn’t mind revving it hard all the time but the relatively unknown 550 four was a much better real world bike

Never rode any Honda 4 smaller than a 750. I did know a guy that rode a 500/4, he rode it pretty hard too. Reckon he had to to keep up with the bigger bikes
