horn bracket

Much as I love the big brassy Fiamms, I just don't need chunky things like that on my bike - surplus to requirements. I scored a nice looking pair of Italian horns from a Fiat wrecker ... look identical to Fiamms, with part red, part black - might stick them on the more std bike, which I think I'll call the SFq :giggle: So maybe I do want the big brassy 'get the fuck outa my face' horns?!

I reckon the 'under headlight' location is the best of the factory options.
Hanging off the oil cooler on early triples was likely to cause cracks in the cooler, and consequent loss of oil.
Down on the front engine mount was also pretty silly. Just the place to cop a lot of water and mud off the front tyre.

Mine are down near the front engine mounts, and as you know well Cam my horns would stop working at least once a year. You walked me through deriveting and fixing my horns, you replace the rivets with tiny nuts and bolts. So I was doing this once a year for about 5 years, tedious as it sounds but better than spending $200 on new horns, and then the font of all local Laverda wisdom tells me there are 2 water drain holes in these horns that need to have one right at the bottom of the horn so they don't hold water and rust. Never noticed these holes and once I set them to drain I have never had them stop working. Made me very happy to learn that one.
