It doesn't look like the original latch was ever designed to be repaired/replaced, but your example looks like it will work great!Not sure of its authenticity though!
That's so water can drain outI also discovered during clean-up that the floor of the compartment is porous.
That's actually how I found mine, with silver duct tape in various locations!Tape across the top. A factory mod.

Actually, if you re-fibreglass the floor of the box, it would be a good idea to provide some kind of drain. That lid doesn't look at all water tight. If you cop a sudden rain storm while you're out on the bike, you don't want your sandwiches to get all soggy.

This the best solution that requires no tape..I'm guessing that I'm not the only sfc owner with a broken latch on the tail storage cover...
Is there a fix for it?
