How to identify forks

For reasons of originality only I'm fitting a later model front mudguard to my bike. No sweat it goes on as easily as the early model one that had been there. But it occurs to me that the later model mudguard came when Marzocchi forks were introduced because the older style allegedly didn't fit. How can I tell if the forks are Marzocchi or Ceriani?
Thanks
Chris

You can tell at least by the way the calipers are mounted.
On Cerianis the threads are in the caliper's mounting holes,
on Marzocchis they are in the "ears" on the fork legs.
So on Cerianis the calipers are behind those ears, on
Marzocchis before them.

Mudguards are interchangeable between Ceriani and Marzocchi forks as used on the triples...
