Just out of interest ......... Biker Simon video on YouTube reports on Bonhams recent auction ........

SFC Electronica with the reg no above went for £24,000 ........ Reg sounds familiar ....... was it featured in a road test feature in Motorcycle Sport mag once ? ........ One of the original seven imported by Slater Bros apparently .......... V5 registration document transferred to new owner today ( Tuesday ) ..........

An ex Joey Dunlop RC30 .... ( being sold by the Dunlop family ) ..... went for £115,000 .......... Buyer was Stone Island , which is a knitwear company .................

I can remember an ex Joey Dunlop V Four in the foyer at Honda , Chiswick. I was told it would be destroyed rather than sold , they seem to be concerned that the wheels, frame, brakes etc had come to the end of life and would be unsafe if ever recommissioned in years to come.
We also had an actual ex Barry Sheene RG500 shock absorber at Merton College knocking around in a drawer, be worth shit loads now.

There is a picture somewhere of what appears to be a Honda GB RC30 and maybe a NC30 in mid air in the claws of a vehicle crusher .....


Some do survive againat all the odds though ......... Yamaha OW01 specialist Peter Day once recognised , and rescued , Rob McElnea`s old Loctite Yamaha race bike amongst a collection of bikes waiting to be scraped .........

He recognised it by a small plate attached to the steering head ..... ( or something like that ..... ) ..........

One of our customers had an ex Foggy OW-01 , had the quickest action throttle I’ve ever seen, motor blew through using wrong grade plugs and it ended up sold off for bits…

First engine I rebuilt when I was an apprentice 'mucky neck' was a Ford V4 out of a Transit van.
Kept one of the old con-rods out of it for yonks. As you do...
A mate and me started club racing back in '87. He needed some leathers, and bought a set off a chap who lived near me at the time.
The guy was a useful club racer, and had won a class at Darley Moor on a 750 slab-side Gixxer the year before I believe.
He worked for Norton at their site in Shenstone at the time, with involvement in the various ongoing Rotary projects.
Later on in the year, at Darley Moor, Malcolm Heath became the first rider to compete on the prototype Norton Rotary race bike.
Nice guy was Malcolm, hope he's doing well. Incidentally, Rotary main man and engineer extraordinaire Brian Crighton used to run a local bike business before his Norton fame. The Honda Shop (no hissing at the back!) was just off the High Street in Brownhills, Staffordshire.
He balanced the carbs on my 400/4 once. 🙂
 
On one of her visits to Oz, she went to Cabramurra, one of the large camps where the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme was being built, and stayed overnight. Many years later, my Mum stayed in the same room and used the same toilet. Does that count as well? My mum's name was Elizabeth or Betty, as well.

Don`t know about QE2`s undies ............ But a few years ago there was a bloke who claimed to have one of her pubic hairs in a matchbox ........

He worked for a firm which played host to the Queen during a Royal visit .
A toilet had been set aside especially for her use if needed ......... which it was ........

Once the visit was over , he entered the cubicle ..... spotted the Royal item on the rim of the bowl ....... and decided to keep it as a memento of the days events .

Not sure if it held pride of place as a part of his collection ..............

That's just so random it has to be true! Either way it's funny, but quite believable. Liz was a very well travelled lady, but extremely 'Old Skool'. With that in mind, I doubt very much if she ever visited 'Shaven Haven'....
