If you want to re-torque headbolts on a 750 SF....

Just tilted my donk forward to re-do mine..... but is a pain in the Ass having to drop the exhaust sf1/airbox n carbs.......🤬
How do you calculate the torque for the extended leverage?

If the openings for the nuts and the wrench were in line, no recalculation
would be necessary.

OK, the crossover-banana surely will be, but carbs can stay on the engine and
of course the airbox doesn't need to be touched at all.

You can do it using this formula
However, with correct placement of the torque wrench handle in the socket, you don't need to re-calculate.

Just rotate the torque wrench around on its ratchet so the distance between the wrench handle and the centre-line of the nut is the same as the length of the wrench handle (that's with the handle at approximately 90° to the extension).

Basically, if the extension doesn't actually change the distance between the wrench handle and the nut, the torque is not multiplied.

If you're confused I can draw a diagram.

Re-torquing Cylinder heads on a Breganzie SF(C) - This is how you do it:

Screw that F&$k'g tool you got ;o)

Chrisk - Still got 2 Nuts left or right Whatever - It Works.

By the way that Gear Selector Cable is critical - You don't want to over stretch your limits ;o)

Ron, Ron, Ron ... did you actually read what Boetje gave as reasons why he created his special tool? We all know how to torque an SF head!! But many find it a pain in the arse having to frig around removing shit and rotating the engine to access four head nuts ... when it would be a 10 minute job if you could just do it with a special tool.

As I say to my 16yo, make sure you READ the exam questions thoroughly so you can give the right answer!! Pretty simple, even with a skinful of single malt!!

I personally would never trust his torque spec tool with my wife ;o)

WTF it only takes an afternoon messing around with your Brebanzie to do it right - Geeze !

Piranaha-Bro2 - Wish you luck after 2000 miles - Considering the revs your after were you don't blow a head gasket and hole a piston ;o)

Been there ;o(

PS: Make sure them copper washers are true and flat or you will will be plagued with an oil leak.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story Ernesto 😉

I do like the solution... nice engineuity Boetje 👍

By the way that's NOT 4 head bolts but rather 10 - Do not forget the lower head bolts between the Cylinders.

Told you Guy's and Gals from the beginning that I only speak up when it comes to Breganzie Twins. Considering I owned, road and raced one for over 45 years very successively ;o)

I can't recall loosing a race with her whether it was 2 miles or 800 miles !

Yes some Jap Bikes like the KZ 1000 were faster in the 1/4 mile but after that I owed the road. Like they shifted 4 times in the quarter were I was on their ass after shifting twice and I got 3 more gears.

Just amazing how much substained power them two little Breganzie 750 SF pistons put out. A Breganzie 750 SF can beat a Ducati 750S Desmo on a raod course but you have to work at it ;o)

Considering the Ducati 750S Desmo rider (my friend) was equal if not not a better rider then me, I could always out rev him with my Breganzie 750 SF. My most remembered year riding, back in 73, racing against that Ducati 750S through the Cambrian Shield of Northern Ontario with 2 Itialian twins when 4 Cly screaming Japanese bikes were abound. Jap Bikes could not touch us on winding mountainous roads ;o)

Gotta say his Ducati 750S handled better then my SF but just didn't have the revs but we could blast any Jap, American or English Bike on the road at the time ;o)

About then another friend of mine bought a Honda V4 Magnum. Other then just about killing himself on it he survived. Derek had the luck of the Irish ;o)

BOETJE: I explained how to Re-Torque a Breganzie 750 SF cylinder head long before this - Take it or leave it ;o)

We are old fogies - That actually know the bike.

So what we reminisce - It's an old ride, just like us, that we know hell of a lot about !

This Forum is saturated with old fogies like me giving advise to youngsters that manage to get their hands on a Breganzie. One of the most renounced Motorcycles of all time. If you want to learn a thing or two about Breganzie maintenance - That's your issue; but, don't complain about old Motorcyclist's talking. We have been there, done it and survived.

As if I haven't saddled other rides but my heart always settled with the Breganzie 750 SF and the joy and terror she gave me.

I'm 73 and a survivor of riding 2 wheels for over 50 years - How old are you ?
